Tableland wagyu beef is based on Braehead farm at the foot of Mt Bartle frere on the Atherton Tablelands. Braehead was first settled in 1912 by a Scottish family who named the property after the wife's home farm back in Scotland.
Braehead has a rich history in agriculture. In the early 1900's it operated as a dairy farm and cheese factory. Dairying continued up until late 2003.
Braehead is renowned for its high rainfall, rich volcanic soil, lush native grasses with legume improvements.
The Haines family has lived on the Atherton Tableland for a century. Geoff and Leanne, along with their three sons, commenced their wagyu stud in 2002 after experiencing the taste of wagyu. They initially purchased one full blood wagyu cow and with artificial insemination, embryo transfer and further purchases now boast a herd of 100 fullblood cows and bulls. They have since expanded into F1 They are members of the Australian wagyu Association.
